You are indeed working backwards. The critical interface is amp and speakers. The transporter specs are pretty standard for a digital source (2-3V output depending on unbalanced or balanced transmission and benign impedance of around 100 ohm). Because you don't mention a preamp I'll assume you plan to run direct into the amp. Some things to consider:
- With the transporter's standard specs, look for an amp with input sensitivity less than 1.5V (less than 1V even better) - The amp should not have really low input impedance. Probably no lower than 10K and better if higher. Proper impendance and voltage ratios (amp/source) also apply when using passive preamps like a TVC. - you may want to take advantage of balanced transmission. So consider an amp with balanced inputs. Other than the above, it is far more important to understand your speaker's impedance curve and focus on optimizing the amp/speaker interface.
