I've never heard anyone claim this. RedBook was a great engineering
compromise in the mid-70s when it was made. And it can be made to sound
good if care is made.

What is true is that SACD and DVD-A failed in the market because they
were over hyped, and failed to deliver. Far too many 'releases' were
from ADAT sources, so there was no there there.

It is also true that the mass market doesn't care about either audio
quality nor draconian DRM. If you want to make money in music, you sell
on iTunes.
