I have used Benchmark DAC1, which I sold in anticipation of the Naim HDX and bought a Beresford DAC for temporary replacement. I gave up on the HDX idea but finally got myself a Transporter.
The Beresford is very reasonably priced but I think it would stuggle to even get close to what your Naim CDI sounded. To me the Beresford sounds different than the SB2 but not necessarily better. The Benchmark and Lavry are in a completely different class, I favor the DA10 more with its warmer sound. But ultimately, the Transporter sounds better than all the DACs by a large margin in my Naim system. Sounding both detailed and unfatiging. Seeing that you have the CDI and an LP12, I think you would be left unsatisfied using the Beresford and would end up upgrading. -- agentsmith System 1: Transporter, Naim 202/200/Hicap/NAPSC/Ariva System 2: SB2 connected via TOSLINK to a Meridian F80 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ agentsmith's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1838 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57619 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
