The degaussing issue was fixed several firmwares ago, so make sure you run the latest SC.
The unit will degauss now only after a power cycle (actual interruption of power, not merely pressing the POWER button) and a reboot. It might also do this after extensive use of the knob, but I don't use the knob extensively so I'm not sure.
