I don't mind *some* R&B, but I find most of it completely homogenous and 
lifeless. It seems that, for most R&B singers, soulfulness is measured 
as a function of how much they can warble around one note/syllable!

Davina - "Give Me Love" is an example if what I consider to be good R&B; 
in fact, the whole "Come Over To My Place" album is v. good.

Stevie Wonder has it.

Perhaps I don't actually like pure R&B? Maybe I need a bit of 
blues/soul/funk in the mix too?

It's only labels. :)
