No, it's the other way around. The TP has build in attenuators for the unbalanced (RCA) outputs, but not for the balanced (XLR). So if you are using XLR, you need external attenuation to match the levels. If you are using RCA (unbalanced), you can use the attenuators in the TP (see the manual on how to).
