thanks for the replies.

after 15 minutes it started to sound better.  that first 5 minutes was
brutal.

i am not using the crossovers in the speakers.  the amplifiers are
modified with speaker-specific cards that cause them to amplify the
tweeter and other drivers separately.  supposedly this is more efficient
because the speaker crossovers arent absorbing the amp's power.

i got a sense of the attraction of the precision of the transporter-
clean, detailed, controlled.

but the treble sounds buzzy and my wife pointed out the whole sound is
much more 2D where the genki creates an illusion of depth.  

i will keep playing and listening.  its strange to me that solid state
devices would be affected by burn-in.
