When I got the XM4, I wasn't looking for something portable.  However,
I couldn't find a non-portable device that fit my budget.  As it turned
out, I get some portable use out of it too when traveling.

These look like very interesting devices.  My only concern would be
that they aren't dedicated headphone amp devices, so you have to wonder
how much attention was paid to the headphone amp circuitry.

Hopefully there are some folks that have used either of these devices
that can comment.

You might want to do a search over at head-fi.org for these units for
comments.  Be forwarned though - they are a die-hard bunch that would
drop $500 on a portable amp for their iPod at the drop of a hat :-). 

If they have 30 day trials, you might take advantage of that and judge
for yourself.
