Right. That's what I was talking about. If you listen to SB3, Duet and
Transporter through one and the same DAC the sound differs greatly. And
it's not just jitter related. Difference is too great to blame jitter
for that. But in theory the digital out of all three players should be
the same. So I think (maybe I'm wrong, but it will take an engineer who
designed these players to prove it) some additional processing is
carried out inside these players, it's not just pass through. Or the
analogue part of the players is at work at some stage and this seems to
me a more plausible explanation than jitter related problems.

I've only tested SB and Duet digital out on the same setup. And
difference is "night and day". This doesn't require any special
knowledge and anyone who is not completely deaf can carry out this
simple test. But unfortunately many people rely on somebody else's
opinion, which seems to be a rule in the Internet these days.

I myself wanted "to get away cheap" but I'm saving money for
Transporter.
