Hi, So many of us have been patiently waiting for the new Touch. Beta testers have lived with the Touch for awhile and also been through new software changes and some of you have experience with the TP, own dacs, have very nice systems and have likely formed opinions. Yes, I have read through the older posts, but let's collect some of these up to date comments here.
My question is asked in terms of a high perfomance two channel system and I don't intend to use a preamp but rather run straight to amplifier. I have owned the SB3 and wasn't impressed with its analog out but was impressed digital out to a quality dac such as the Benchmark. I also owned the Transporter and was impressed with it as a player direct to amp. I have since owned other digital including a Theta Gen VIII but can't justify that type of expenditure. I really enjoy services such as Rhapsody and Pandora as well as my CD collection and the Squeeze solution seems the best to me. (the Linn products are unfamiliar to me, and are pricey but may be better) Have there been advances in the digital volume control on the new Touch to help with the problem of not losing resolution when running straight to amp? (I know there are pros and cons to preamp or no preamp) Analog outputs.....is the Touch the equal of the Transporter or is the Transporter better. I can go either way - rca or balanced out if it gives the advantage to the TP. How does the Touch with external dac such as a lower priced high quality dac (Dacmagic, Benchmark) compare to the standalone Transporter? Please, your comments ar valuable and thanks!! -- mr_bill ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mr_bill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6737 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74715 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
