I believe it has little to do with the common mode noise rejection, and more to do with isolation of grounds.

The TI Burr Brown DRV134 is a pin-compatible alternative. That said, building a balanced driver with active components like this can be tricky to get right. It's all too easy to introduce a bit of unwanted noise (in the form of hiss). I've built line drivers with both SSM2142s and DRV134s, and I have never been entirely happy with the noise floor. Transformers are easier to use (albeit significantly more expensive, and they never have ruler flat response). If you're ace at PCB layout, then using the active chips is the obvious way to go, but I think for the hobbyist it's swings and roundabouts. -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74715 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
