That's kind of interesting. AES/EBU is a bodge-job designed for penny pinching studio owners (like me, once :-) to re-use their existing mic/line cables as digital interconnects. AES/EBU has no real parallels with analogue balanced connections beyond using the same cable and connectors. Sean Adams (for one) stated that the AES connection on the TP was worse than the spdif coax... and he should know. I've personally never heard ANY digital equipment where the AES/EBU connection had any beneficial effect on the sound.
