OK Phil - I am evaluating the Duet but should I be considering the Touch as a final purchase instead? Don't forget that I am gunning for the best sound quality - but at the same time I don't need anything better than CD quality 16 bit 'resolution wise' (hence my interest in NOS DACs) - so the Touch's extra bit resolution will be redundant to me at least. And of course I won't be interested in the better DAC in the Touch because I will be using an external DAC - so again that extra upgrade is no use to me either.
But are there other advantages to the Touch I should consider before keeping the Duet? For example 'are' the digital outputs marginally superior giving me more 'headroom' to upgrade to higher-end DACs should I ever find the money to afford do so? And is the operating system now 'open source' on the Touch which again will help for development reasons and upgrades.
