I doubt that they are targeting the couple grand market. There does seem to be a $500 price point market that is thriving, including quite a few happy DACmagic and Rega users on this very forum.
I'm interested in the fact that ASUS makes it because they have been extremely successful on their Xonar sound card line. Many say it is the best on the market today.
