They better get input from recording profesionals than audiophiles, they may know a thing or to on how things really sound.
30 years off listening to flawed audio euqipment in sub optimal acoustic's is some kind of experience, but it hardly makes you suited to judge a products acuracy . so the typical lifelong audiophile experience is not worth much, before you flame me some audiphiles actually goes to live performances of live music but thats an excepting modern lifes makes to litle time for live music. so a pro spending 40hr weeks listening to minute details over and over again when rocding or mixing should have much better ideas on what things really sounds like. Myself ? I would not take the jobb if it was offered to little real experience, I would choose my own equipment from select brands of engineered stuff, but thats how far i trust myself. Making a tranparent reproducing dac is a good goal in an engineering practice as the goal is well defined. making something sound " good " takes you to the twilligth zone where anything goes real or not -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
