What was ironic about Weiss' comments wasn't that the company doesn't seek listening input from audiophiles. It was that he and his own engineers don't even listen to the gear to evaluate it.
Maybe there's some as yet undiscovered electrical phenomenon (flux capacitance?) that makes the gear sound not-quite-right without affecting the other measurements.
