OK guys, I did try that to no good effect. But then I had a thought (dangerous). I have security on my WiFi and if I want to use WiFi (and I note your reservations - so I take it its a bad idea). Then I will need to add some network access info somewhere in a config file.
All in all it looks like ethernet is the way to go!!
