Yes my Touch worked just fine before I mod'ed it using the WiFi interface.
But I think I am expending too much time trying to get a less than ideal technology working. On that basis I am going to go for Ethernet cabling - not ideal but I can live with that. Must say guys that you all have been most incredibly helpful and it is very much appreciated. The depth of knowledge here is extensive!!
