Phil...

So, now I'm curious....do you use those ferrites other places, too?  On
your (non-optical) interconnects, power cords, etc.? 

Someone recently mentioned taking an AM radio, tuned to static, and
putting it near various potential sources.  I did this and certainly
heard an increase in volume near my power connections (and even more
when placed near a couple wall-warts).  But, without any reference, I
don't know what's considered an acceptable amount and, further, whether
any of the noise is actually affecting the sound quality.

Does, one just put those clamps all over the place or will they have
some negative effect if used improperly or excessively?  Are beads
enough or are the clamps preferred?  

This is a completely new notion to me, so am interested in learning a
bit---either from you or if you can point me to any numpty-compatible
web literature.

If this is a topic for another thread, I'd be happy to re-post.
