While I agree in principle, in reality things are a bit different. What I mean is that although the TAS computer music series is complete rubbish many people will take this very scientific looking nonsense as somehow valid and some of these ridiculous "findings" are in danger of becoming accepted dogma in high end audio circles since, after all, no less an authority than The Absolute Sound published the series. For example, I was recently discussing many of these issues with an audiophile friend of mine who happens to have worked as a vice president for IT for several very large firms. While he agreed that most of the information in the computer music was nonsense he did believe that a more expensive USB cable would work better than a less expensive USB cable even if the less expensive cable met the minimum USB cable specifications. What I'm afraid will happen as a result of the publication of this garbage is that some of this misinformation will slowly become general audiophile knowledge (I use the term "knowledge" very loosely) and then become an accepted "truth". Basically FUD of the highest order. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 (oops) -> Touch 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93549 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
