It is theoretically possible (but highly unlikely) for two identical copies of a file to play back differently if AND ONLY IF: 1) the hard disk is INSIDE the computer, attached to the motherboard. 2) the soundcard with DAC is part of the PC. and the electrical noise pattern generated by the hard drive (which might be different when it reads the two files) messes with the DAC differently. Now, I'm sure you can see how hard I'm stretching here to even invent a scenario by which this might be possible, so let me try to answer it another way: THERE IS NO FRICKIN WAY. ... ask ANYONE who works in recording studios if they think it is possible (remember these people have done more copying of music files and listening than anyone else).
