A better question would be:

Since determining the dynamic range of a recording is such a simple
process why don't the various vendors (HDTracks, etc.) post the dynamic
range along with the bit and sample rate? 

Simple answer to the above question:

Because then most well informed people (well informed and with a good
understanding of what high resolution SHOULD be about) would not waste
their money on so called high resolution recordings that are
"significantly dynamically compressed".
