In my wine example, the surprising part is that some low cost wines from New Zealand were rated as better than much more expensive wines from France or California. Regarding my Transporter vs Touch: I do prefer the sound of the Transporter vs the Benchmark DAC I. Not because one is "better" but the Transporter has a different sound signature. (that said, I do like the Benchmark and still use it at my weekend place connected to a TOUCH.) I've tried a TOUCH feeding the digital inputs of the Transporter (i.e., just using the transporter as a DAC) and can detect no difference between the Transporter as source vs the Touch as source. I mostly like the Transporter because I like using Balanced Analog outs feeding my preamp/amp and the power supply is less noisy than the power supply in the Touch (or certainly in my older SB3). But none of these things have anything to do with jitter. Just because some components may be better doesn't mean they are necessary with regard to dealing with jitter, etc. Some cars can easily reach 180mph. Some would struggle at 110mph. If driving at 75mph is the maximum requirement, the excess capacity of the 180mph car is nice but not needed to attain my desired speed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96407 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
