and an ABX test (as pointed out by julf) would be even better than the simple test I outline above. If you want to play around a bit with ABX, you can do some testing on your ability to detect differences between lossless and lossy codecs with Foobar2000 and the ABX component. Very easy to do automatically. Warning, you will be surprised as to how difficult it is to tell a reasonably high bitrate mp3 from lossless. Of course now we're on to the subject of Archimago's other thread regarding his very interesting experiment.
