I would call BS on fancy equipment stands too , except for turntables , if your modern solid state equipment exhibits microphony at audible level sorry it's crap you got bigger problems than a equipment stand.
I agree re cables except for that in some cases the freebies can be good enough , but I value well made shielding ( the freebies cable does not have that ) crap cable can let disturbances in I had that too turn on a ligth switch and it crackles in the hifi ? you can have that with fancy brand cables to they can actually be worse than a free cable if really flawed in their design . blue jeans Belsen based digital spdiff cable is really all that you need for spdiff for example . But I have a medium fancy equipment stand ? It is also my centre speaker stand :) A real tweak , I use soft foam insulators between the centre speaker and rack I can't feel any vibrations at all even at silly volumes . Real tweak 2 I use a not soo fancy speaker stands for the rear channels ,but fill them with sand and use the same brand of foam insulators between speakers and stand so the stand virtually does not matter anymore. But another factor that can be hard to tell is that furniture have a sound it's a part of the acoustic even if the equipment does not sitt there , I changed sofa recently I think I actually have to retune the DRC ? I have partly made furniture choices out of acoustic properties ( no big cupboards or similar with glass doors ).
