Perhaps I've just been extra slow to notice, but your music focus seems to primarily be various re-releases of what appears to be classic rock albums. Most of these were originally released on vinyl and even the first CD re-releases were primarily an attempt to resell another copy of old music. The record companies quickly learned that the dedicated ageing rockers would keep buying the same material over and over. Most of my collection of classic 70s stuff is from LPs that I converted to CD. While I have some classic rock material from various commercial CD incarnations, most of the rock albums I have straight from CD has either been earlier material (1940s & 50s) or stuff that was released after LPs bit the dust. (I've not joined the current round of LP mania.) For the most part, any CDs I have from the 80s are simply because that was the decade in which the albums were released new. I just never did get into the habit of replacing music I already owned. I've also made it clear in the past that I am not a fan of the loudness wars, though I consider things much worse now than anything I ever heard from the 90s. But, it's a fad that is particularly popular with the young buyers. Most popular music is sold to the young, so record companies are going to follow the trends that produce the most sales, just like McDonald's sells more hamburgers than anyone else even though few who have any respect for food would consider their burgers a culinary standard bearer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98249 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
