No jkeny, no reading problems here. I just know what the numbers mean. You obviously don't. Here's your quote: "Here the rate jumps down about 8 ppm for around 2 seconds at a time. Now an 8 ppm change in rate accumulates to a timing error of 16 microseconds over two seconds. i.e. a jitter over this period of 16 million picoseconds! This is many orders of magnitude greater than the kinds of values reported for J-Test measurements on shorter timescales!" An error accumulated over a period of seconds is a timing error, not audible jitter. About the lowest jitter that anybody talks about has a period of 1/3 of a Hz, as in a LP spinning on a turntable that is a little off center. That's endemic in LP playback and it is tolerated by the ear unless it is really bad. A timing error of 16 microseconds over two seconds is equivalent to a frequency error of 8 microseconds per second, or 0.0008%. Humans can actually hear timing errors of several thousand times that, but not much less, if you catch my drift. For reference most of the better A/V gear has timing accuracy on the order order of 0.005% more or less, and it isn't audible either. You have not shown that JL claims any audible effects. Like I said I have known the man for years and with data like this, he likely he never will. He's just having fun throwing numbers around. You are deflecting again, jkeny and part of your problem is that you are trying to win this argument with numbers, but you don't know what the numbers mean because you loathe measurements with such a profound hatred. Numbers are my friends! If nothing else jkeny the have already provided me with many opportunities to show know-nothings up, like this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ arnyk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64365 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103684
