Any difference in sound between > the two is down to the format (and if you happen to prefer the LP, > that's fine). You misinterpreted my post. I was talking about those who claim LPs sound better than CDs due to some inherent quality that the digital format can't match. Nothing more. Hence if a CD can sound indistinguishable from an LP, any perception that LPs sound better must be due to some other factor.
I do think that in the heyday of LPs -- the late 1950s thru the 70s, that there was often more care taken in the recording & production process, especially as regards rock and popular music. I would agree with you that the CD format is superior in terms of noise level, distortion, linearity and other important technical factors. It is just a pity that those capabilities are so often wasted. (Though generally, I find modern classical recordings do take advantage of the CD's abilities in a way that pop/rock doesn't.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106560 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
