Some companies needed longer cables without having to add periodic
boosters. Now they can do that. Many companies buy newer cable designs
with a clear intention to upgrade to higher performance switches when
available.

Though Arny appears to disagree/agree with me just for effect we have
the same point:
Cat5 was demonstrably perfect for use for your data transmission
purpose, so cat6, or cat8 will both also be demonstrably perfect - so
there is therefore no need to pay the higher price as it brings no
benefit to your application. If it's the same price, knock yourself
out...
