Hello all, I have just released aufs2-base1-2.6.27.tar.bz2 on SourceForge.
This is the first trial to release AUFS by SourceForge File Release System. I am not sure that I will continue the release by CVS. This version of AUFS which is titled "aufs2-base1" has several purposes. - to be reviewed easily and widely. - to make the source files simpler and smaller by dropping several original features. - through this work, I may find some bad things in original source code and have a chance to fix them. - some of the dropped features will be reverted in the future, but not all I'm afraid. If you are using AUFS currently and don't need the dropped features, then I'd recommend you to use this version. To Use This Version - plain linux-2.6.27 - apply splice-2.6.27.patch - apply aufs2-base1-2.6.27.patch - make menuconfig, and enable CONFIG_AUFS_FS - build your kernel - install aufs helper scripts which exists under aufs/util in the CVS tree on SourceForge. - almost all information about the CVS version are still available, except the dropped features. If you find something wrong, please let me know (or aufs-users ML). It will be really appriciated. The dropped features are,,, - NFS branch - NFS exporting - detecting user's direct access to branch (udba=inotify) - copyup on open (coo=) - statistics of aufs thread (/sys/fs/aufs/stat) - delegation mode (dlgt) - test only the highest one for the directory permission (dirperm1) - show whiteout mode (shwh) - being another aufs's readonly branch (robr) - etc...
