I'm not sure why you gave up on CVS. But maintain a sotfware under some SCM is very important, there we might be able to cacth up all commits and detailed changes, which makes easier to find some regression or even identify a serious bug. I agree that CVS is not a very good option, but there are many SCM round the world. And i think that GIT is a good options. If you desire we (c3sl) can even host AUFS at git.c3sl.ufpr.br, and there are some free host to GIT projects such as http://repo.or.cz/ . > > This version of AUFS which is titled "aufs2-base1" has several purposes. > - to be reviewed easily and widely. > - to make the source files simpler and smaller by dropping several > original features. > - through this work, I may find some bad things in original source code > and have a chance to fix them. > - some of the dropped features will be reverted in the future, but > not all I'm afraid. > > If you are using AUFS currently and don't need the dropped features, > then I'd recommend you to use this version. > > To Use This Version > - plain linux-2.6.27 > - apply splice-2.6.27.patch > - apply aufs2-base1-2.6.27.patch > - make menuconfig, and enable CONFIG_AUFS_FS > - build your kernel > - install aufs helper scripts which exists under aufs/util in the CVS > tree on SourceForge. > - almost all information about the CVS version are still available, > except the dropped features. > > If you find something wrong, please let me know (or aufs-users ML).
