Okay, as always, trying to express a problem in details to someone
else (rubber ducking) gave me an idea.

I wondered, since the folder being "locked" to NFS was the first one
in the mount, if this could be the cause of the problem, and not the
POSIX ACLs, so I tried prepending a "dummy" folder to the list, i.e.

none /Archive aufs
ro,noauto,nofail,xino=/run/aufs.xino.archive,br=/dummy=ro:/titanic/Ripped/Processed=ro:/tit<snip>

So far, this fixed it. The "Processed" folder stays accessible via NFS
after I've mounted /Archive on the server.

Very strange :) Perhaps there's some file locking going on in the
first directory branch, even if it's read-only?
