Why? You tell me. If you are attacked by a Wedge-tail, or any other creature, it’s simply because it doesn’t like you. (mating/breeding season and area protection is not a cause) The only bird you may soar with, in Aus, that can cause a catastrophe is the Australian Pelican. Without malice – but rather from fear - it dives vertically if it’s disturbed during flight and that’s where we, as soaring pilots are most exposed as we generally enter a thermal below them. Noel.
