Drew and others,
Yes, there is no GFA Stand this year. This decision
was taken after long discussion between the GFA Exec and dad who organises
it and has done so for all previous airshows.
There were a number of reasons. Firstly, cost. It
costs over $3000 to exhibit at the Airshow and we felt it could be better spent
on other promotional events. Second, the Airshows people mad eit clear to us
that we were going to have to provide our own security after the Friday night
show and we would have to help direct people. We found this
completely unreasonable.
Hope this has shed some light on the
matter.
Tighe Patching (the little, 3rd generation
one!)
PS - The S/W Kooka is GRX, which is owned by Ian
Patching, Geoff Hearn and Frank Smith who loaned it to the ATC. I understand
that the Geelong GC has in fact taken some gliders down to exhibit. Anyone
know?
