Bad Luck John,
It can't be one of Geelong Gliding Club's tugs as our Pawnee is nearing the
end of a rebuild and our Supercub is stilling having its new engine installed.
I understand VMFG is towing Manfred with the veteran, John Gleeson flying
the tug.
Can anyone tell me if Manfred flew on Friday night because I understand
CASA put some REAL requirements on the intrumentation and internal lighting
of the Pawnee tow plane, unlike last airshow when a "light" mounted in the
roof behind the pilot's head, and an ageing AH from Swan Hill GC's Cirrus
was all that was added to GGC's Pawnee for the night show? The poor tow
pilot's head cast a huge shadow over the instrument panel and to his
immense credit he successfully completed the night tow.
PENETRATING the dark atmosphere without visual reference is not
recommended, even for PENETRATORS.
