First of all check that you are not in contravention of the glider's type
certificate.  The Cirrus (both Open and Standard) was certiifcated with
GELCOAT, not paint.  Somebody may own a Supplemental Type Certificate to
finish it in paint instead, and this would also say what kind of paint must
be used.  alternatively you would have to obtain approval from either the
manufacturer of a CAR 35/36 delegate (more bloody rules but it is
potentially your life at stake, if not your livelihood if things go wrong
and somebody tries to blame you and ruin your financial status) to refinish
the glider in this manner.

As a first step, you should ring the GFA office and talk to either Mike
Valentine or John Ashford - that is what they are employed by us to advise
and assist on - don't rely on answers from an Internet chat group, whoever
it might have been that put their (or somebody else's) name on the reply.
