Hullo Jay (and innocent bystanders), Thanks for the information Jay - I speculated that it might be one of the latest Outlook Express "developments". I have no strong feelings about what I'm seeing on my screen in respect of your worthy postings - just a curiosity with anything unusual.
I also note that Netscape Messenger will not permit me to reply to your message from the screen which contains the message, but only from the list of mail received. Once I reply to "your" message however, Messenger also seems satisfied then that the message has been read, and flags it as such. Maybe it's all just a little Mickey$oft routine to irritate anyone who has the naivety/audacity to use anything other than their products.... Curiosity satisfied, subject closed thanks Jay; no need to change anything on my account. I'll store the details away somewhere - might be useful someday. Returning to Soaring mode ......
