I wouldn't be surprised -- cyan-on-white isn't a very high-contrast 
combination.

I've tried messing around with the color before, and have discovered
a problem:  When people print these charts out (e.g., for briefing 
handouts), the chosen colors need to look recognizably different.  Which
isn't necessarily an easy thing when the print-outs are in black and
white.

If I make the wind-speed any darker, it becomes indistinguishable
from dew point and wind direction on a black and white printer.

I'll see if I can fiddle around with line styles a bit...
