What are the CASA requirements to operate outside the GFA?

I understood that they required you to do everything you would otherwise do
under the GFA anyway?

I'm also curious about the airworthiness side of things. GA standards
and GFA standards for airworthiness are a bit different (in particular,
the GFA approved "standard repairs" simply don't exist in the GA world,
and I doubt many LAMEs are familiar with composite structures).

In the GFA system the ADs and ANs from the manufacturers are distributed
to registered owners by the GFA. I'm guessing you'd register direct
with the manufacturer to receive that paperwork if you were operating
under the CASA system.

Mike B made a comment which I interpreted to mean that his glider was
recognized as a "homebuilt". I thought home-builders had to perform
at least 51% of the construction of the aircraft for that to work
within the regs. I'm curious about how that works. Does putting
the wings and tailplane on count as 51% of construction? :-)
