A friend of mine flying across Ballina often says "I say again for avdata -
OVERFLYING BALLINA " otherwise he must complain when Avdata when they have
it on the bill.
My partner in PIK (Ken Flower in those days was council Manager) years ago
gave a talk to NSW local Government Association about the false economy of
Councils signing up for Avdata as by the time the 3rd bill goes out councils
make NO MONEY and if the forth goes out they loose. Anumber of western
councils did away with Avdata but Council CEOs have a short memory thus the
charges have come back by many council. So approach your local councils and
explain the nonsense of Avdata charging - Pilots and councils are just
feeding an unnecessary leach organization - have a look at what small
councils make - usually nothing
Avdata may not have the RAAus list of aircraft but Aviation Search and
Rescue do fortunately as I found recently

That's true (I'd forgotten). Ultralight are exempt also (actually RAA
won't give out their register so Avdata can't charge).
Have landed both G109 and Jabiru/Sportstar at Parafield and never seen a
charge yet.
It doesn't stop Avdata from slipping out the odd bill occasionally
though.
