This thread reminds me of some experiences I had many years ago. A
syndicate I was in purchased the VMFG's Longwing Kookaburra VH GRC and I
went down to Baccus Marsh to pick it up.

Alan Patching offered me a flight before we de rigged it and mentioned,
in passing, that it would not spin. I was a bit skeptical as the
Southern Cross Longwing (VH GLZ) used to spin quite normally but I was
unable to spin it.

After we had been flying it at Camden for a while we noticed that if you
were a bit late in commencing the flare a landing could become an
arrival.

During the 20 Yearly inspection we were measuring all the control
surface deflections and discovered that with the stick at the end of its
travel the up elevator deflection was noticeably less than the design
figure. After the elevator stop was adjusted there were no more
"arrivals" and the aircraft could be spun.

cheers,
Ken
