You are completely forgetting that Gippsland Aeronautics have developed and manufacture a superior Pawnee namely the GA200. An excellent Australian effort. Sure, it is not revolutionary but it is excellent evolutionary design. Sadly it has a high acquisition cost and doesn't take us away from fuel guzzling engines. There are many sites, forums and blogs dealing with various gliders but very little information available on towplanes (or I am looking at the wrong places). Can someone point me in the right direction or can we start discussing this topic?
