With the discussion about rogue pilots, safety cultures etc.
Do people ever consider how CRM (crew/cockpit resource management)
principles can be applied to gliding? CRM principles can also be
applied to single seat operations and passenger flights.
Principles underlying CRM include:
1. Awareness of how error occurs (the rror chain [sic] and the Reason Model)
2. Threat and error management

There are a number of people well known to me in many areas of the
country who are trained in delivering some of this training and are
already in the gliding movement, or the other areas of sport and
recreational aviation. I have done both the RA-Aus / ASFA Generic
Pilot Proficiency Program and GAPAN Threat & Error Management
presenters' courses, and could be persuaded to either run one or
other for gliding people within my travelling area, or put clubs in
touch with other presenters. The information is now widely available
across Australia and trained presenters are able to be found in most areas.
The TEM is probably better for people with more aviation background
and is best done over 2 days or 4 shorter sessions, whilst the GPPP
can be done as 6 shorter modules and is suitable for less experienced aviators.
