New developments are occuring at present within this interglacial :-) Depends
where the prop (propulsion) is and where it moves :-(

does anyone know if you can still get a motorglider endorsement on a
PPL and would this cover you O/S?

If glider pilots want their license to be recognized internationally,
they have to be prepared to undergo the yearly medicals ( over 40) at a cost
of probably $300 in a licensed clinic. Not just your GP. ( anyway that's the
way it is in Europe) It is a very thorough medical with a large number of older
pilots failing.
If you want to fly in Europe , France is the best place. Nicest to
fly and relatively easy for UK and Aussie pilots. I know of 2 airfields that
help the most, Serres with Klaus Ollman and Sisteron-Vaumeilh.

European glider pilots would love to have to ozzie way license
instead of vast amounts of red tape. For the few pilots that go overseas ( like
me) it will be easier but I think the GFA should think twice, or rather 10
times before going to that system.
