Looks to be true. I saw this when it first broke on Friday afternoon.
I did SO have a good weekend.
I guess it is a lingering professional interest that I've been
following the climate change thing. I used to be a meteorologist.
Even worked in atmospheric research (mainly air pollution meteorolgy)
for a couple of years and once did some climatology. Some gold miners
in the NW of WA wanted more money as they reckoned their mine was
hotter than the ones at Kalgoorlie etc. Somehow the bureau contracted
this job out to our department at the uni and my bosses assigned the
job to me. So I got hold of the records for their mine (or rather
nearby weatherstations) and did the same for Kalgoorlie etc. and we
showed that the mine was not significatly hotter than the others.
Union claim failed. I remember sitting in the Regional Director's
Office a little later with my bosses being congratulated on the great
job I did.
