On America's cup boats, they change the genoa sheets after every 300 tacks or thereabouts. Someone counts each tack. Few if anyone's lives depend on a set of jib sheets. The rope used for aerotows is not expensive (compared with the sheets on an AC boat) so you may wonder why we don't change them more often.
