Mark,

If the base is receiving Ok and the cars are having trouble hearing the base, as others have suggested, check the co-ax on the base transmitter.

This applies to gliders too. Nimbus 3/4 Dm and probably the non motor versions have carbon fins so the radio antenna is in the glass rudder with a connection in the co-ax so that the rudder can be removed for maintenance.

Did the factory use a waterproof connector for this so that tail tank dump water, washing water, rain etc wouldn't get in the connector and the co-ax, ruining them? Dream on.

If you get a new one (and any new Duo's, Arcii etc) it is worth checking and fixing the problem before it begins.

We are running a mobile eftpos machine but have been for years.
What type of base station aerial would you recommend ?

Thanks

Mark,

Are you running GPS or other computer type equipment also?

Sounds like you are getting some RFI from other equipment in the car. Could be coming in via the power lines to the radio or just radiating and being picked up by the receiver.

Hello All,

As some of you know I work for the taxi company here in Benalla.
We are having issues with our VHF radio's.
Was just wondering if some of you with more knowledge than I could offer some advice ?

The problem we are have is with receiving transmissions, a lot of static and a lot of times unreadable and yet transmission is fine. The radios run at 150.2 mHz. These issues are only over a distance of 3-5 km's.
We use to get 15 k +.
And have been getting worse over the last 6-12 months.

Cheers
Mark Goodley
