Lots of people have signed up recently to proofread docs. Now is the
time to check the published PDFs of the WRITER GUIDE for last-minute
errors that I missed. The files are located here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOo3_User_Guides/Chapters
and here:
http://www.oooauthors.org/english/userguide3/writer3/wg3.2-published

Please pick a WRITER GUIDE chapter at random. Please everyone, DON'T
all start with chapter 1 because we end up with 15 reviews of the
early chapters and none of the later chapters in the book.

Here is what I need you to look for:
* Missing x-refs (marked by "Error! xxxx") or wrong x-refs (usually to the wrong figure number)
* Incorrect list numbering (not starting with 1, or following items in
a list not numbered sequentially)
* Missing figures
* Up to date info on the copyright page (email address, date of
publication, OOo version, and website address in footer)
* Characters, words, graphics (especially circles and callouts on other graphics) in wrong places on the page * Conspicuously bad page breaks; for example, the lead-in sentence to a list on one page, with all of the list on the next page, or a table row split over two pages, or a very large blank space at the bottom of a page because a graphic or table has gone to the next page when it should not have done so
* And anything else that looks wrong

This sort of checking can be done fairly quickly, because you should
be skimming, not reading in detail.

At this point you should NOT primarily be looking for minor wording
inconsistencies and other issues. Of course, if you find errors do let
me know. An email to the list giving the file name, the page number, and the error is the easiest way to do this for published files. (As these are published files, please DO NOT "retract" them while you are reviewing them.)
