I downloaded four chapters, and in each one, I found that (1) not one
of them used named styles for bullets and numbered paragraphs, at least
in the paragraphs I picked; and (2) all of them had sequences that did
not start with the number 1, yet the sequence was indeed distinct from
the preceding sequence. This may have been intentional, but some
sequences were just too far away from the previous one, or the sequence
started under a first-level heading.
But anyway, while for this particular layout simply clicking bullet (or
number) and indent serves to set the look as you want, shouldn't we be
embracing one of the features of this product: That it can handle
bullets and numbers better than Word?
And beyond that, is it not also just a good idea? And wouldn't it be a
good way to test it? I would not dream of not using such styles in Word
for all but the most simple of documents.
