According to the general OOo page, there seem to be eight OOo related
gmane newsgroups.
[Authors] doesn't appear to be among them.
OOoAuthors is a relatively young project. This list is probably about
18 months old.
Do you know how to add a newsgroup for Authors?
Cheers,
Daniel.
Daniel,
I have appended the information for GMANE and USENET.
I've had almost no experience with GMANE but have had some difficulty
connecting. I've used USENET for perhaps 10 years and am well pleased
with it.

GMANE
There is a fairly straightforward form to fill in:
http://gmane.org/subscribe.php
Please note that you may specify Posting Permissions (the list may be
restricted to list members only - I don't see a need for this.
Where you do not wish contributer email addresses to be displayed, these
can be encrypted.
Contributions to the list can be archived.

USENET
An informal outline of the process is at:
http://web.presby.edu/~jtbell/usenet/newgroup/how-submit.faq
The more formal descripton is at:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/creating-newsgroups/part1/
Some naming recommendations are at:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/creating-newsgroups/naming/part1/
There are already about 20 groups for StarOffice and maybe 30 for
Microsoft Office.
My ISP has maybe 25,000 groups available and will add others on
request. They added comp.lang.python for me.
